Since Genes to Cells was first launched over ten years ago, I have served the journal as Editor-in-Chief. I will retire from this position as of December 31, 2005. Professor Mitsuhiro Yanagida of Kyoto University has kindly agreed to become the next Editor-in-Chief. I am sure that "Genes to Cells" will prosper under his leadership.

Members of the editorial board, associate editors and editorial assistants will continue to support the journal ably until my successor has an opportunity to reorganize the journal team. I will be responsible for editing and processing papers submitted in 2005, and after that will act as an editor to assist the transition.

I am most grateful to those who read our journal and submit papers to us and in that spirit would like to ask for your continuing support of Genes to Cells.
