Genes to Cells
In 1996, Professor Jun-ichi Tomizawa launched Genes to Cells, an international journal that aimed to provide an international forum for the publication of papers describing important aspects of molecular and cellular biology, with the particular emphasis on conceptual advance in the relevant field and understanding the basic mechanisms underlying biological events. Genes to Cells has received an outstanding reputation on its rigorous high standard. On the occasion of Professor Tomizawa's retirement from the role of Editor-in-Chief, the Molecular Biology Society of Japan asked me to succeed his role. It is an overwhelmingly heavy burden job for me but I decided to accept it since Professor Tomizawa also personally asked me to take the job. It is an honor and I felt I must accept it. I will try the best. Approximately within a half year, I shall plan to modify certain aspects of editorial and submission systems in consultation with the Editorial board members, while keeping the current scope and spirit of the journal. I hope people who have supported Genes to Cells as authors, editors, reviewers and most importantly readers will continue to support the journal.
